Condition

Reverse unexamined. The canvas undulates slightly but otherwise appears sound. There are some very fine scattered lines of craquelure, only visible upon close inspection, and one or two spots of reticulation. There is a spot of unevenness to the surface of the work along the left edge of the brown pigment in the upper left quadrant, which is thought to be inkeeping with the artist's working method. There is some very slight rubbing to some of the raised areas of impasto towards the upper edges, and one or two light traces of surface dirt. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is float mounted and presented in a square-profile painted wooden box frame, with painted backing board.
