Literature
Douglas Cooper, The Work of Graham Sutherland, Lund Humphries, London, 1961, cat. no.50c, illustrated.
Condition
The sheet is adhered to two old bits of adhesive along the upper and lower edge, these have been secured to the backing board. There is a small pinhole near the upper centre of the work, and the sheet undulates slightly, but otherwise the sheet appears sound, and is not laid down. There are some scattered creases to the sheet, and in places this has resulted in very tiny losses to the black ink, most apparent in the lower left corner. There is some light rubbing to the sheet in places and it is very slightly discoloured. There is some light surface dirt across the sheet.
The work is window mounted and housed in a gilt and painted wooden frame, with a green fabric slip, held under glass.
