Catalogue Note
Dating over 50 million years old, this palm fossil was excavated from current day Southwest Wyoming in the United States during an era when its climate was comparable to that of present day Florida. At the time, the verdant area was an aquatic paradise for both land and sea animals. This prehistoric palm is a visually stunning example of the lush vegetation that dominated the area. As one of nature's sublime compositions, the palm is immortalised with undulating crenulations and is surrounded by several fish, perfectly preserved in fossilised stone.
