Condition

This painting on Masonite has never been cleaned. It does not seem to have been retouched. The board on which it is painted has become bowed over time. While some of this distortion to the surface can probably be corrected, it may be that only fairly radical reinforcement on the reverse would completely return the piece to plane. However, the signature and date on the reverse should remain visible. The work should not necessarily be cleaned and it certainly should not be varnished. There is one scratch to the paint layer in the lower left quadrant and a few tiny losses on the extreme right edge, but the condition is good.
