Condition

Oil and gouache on paper laid down on board. The board is stable. Examination under UV light reveals no signs of retouching. There are clusters of tiny pinholes to all four corners. There is some abrasion to the upper right quadrant, resulting in two associated paper losses (the largest of which is approximately 2cm. long). There is a further similar abrasion (approx. 1.5cm long) to the black pigment towards the right part of the lower edge. There are very fine stable lines of craquelure, predominately to the more thickly applied white pigment, and the brown pigment towards the lower centre. There is a fly spot to the upper left quadrant and another to the lower right quadrant. There is a 4mm repaired tear to the centre of the left edge, a tiny paper loss to the upper right corner and a few further small nicks and creases to the edges. This work is in overall good condition.
