Catalogue Note

With a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin, an instruction manual and a presentation box.

Released in 1998 after almost a 30 year absence from making chronographs, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5070 was inspired by the 1950s split-second chronograph Ref. 2512. Featuring a large 42 mm diameter case, the size was considerably more impressive than usually manufactured by the company, and remains today one of the largest diameters produced.

Initially only available in yellow gold with a black dial, as per the original Ref. 2512 configuration, the model was later released in white then pink gold with a silvered dial and finally platinum with a blue dial before being replaced by the Ref.5170 in 2010. The yellow gold Ref. 5070 with black dial is regarded as one of the most attractive and iconic designs to have been released in recent years and is already considered a collectors' item.
