Condition
Overall in good condition. The wood has been revarnished and presents with some surface scratches, edge abrasions and surface dirt consistent with age and use. The top of the decorative frieze with old restorations to the dragonflies, only visible upon close inspection. The top of the cabinet with a few old restorations aand stabilisation to the veneer only visible upon close inspection. The construction lines are slightly visible to the front corners of the top. The side shelves of the cabinet with a few old and sensitively undertaken restorations and stabilisation to the veneer, to the proper right upper shelf along the front right corner and to the proper left lower shelf, with slightly visible construction lien to the top at the front corner. Minor drying crazes to the marquetry consistent with the natural ageing of the wood. Expected rubbing to the bottom of the legs. The glass of the vitrine has possibly been replaced and presents with minor surface scratches and light surface dirt consistent with gentle use. Key missing. The knobs of the drawers are delicate butterflies, slightly loose. The bronze surfaces with minor surface dirt to the recessed areas, minor rubbing, minor oxidation and a few surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. A sculptural cabinet with highly detailed carving and poetic presence, which epitomizes Gallé's naturalist inspiration.
