Condition

Overall in good condition. When viewed in person, the mirror presents with a silver tone and more nuanced hues than in the catalogue illustration. The foliage decoration presents with bronze tones with gilt highlights. The surfaces with some surface scratches, minor surface dirt consistent with age and gentle handling. The verre eglomise with some darkening to the silvering consistent with the natural aging of the material and visible in the catalogue illustration. A few elements with a few occasional losses to the silvering, concentrated to the lower outer edge. A few glass elements have been replaced around the outer perimeter, only noticeable upon close inspection. A few scattered stabilized cracks to a few rectangular elements, all to the outer perimeters and not visually distracting. The proper left low corner with a small chip to the edge of the rectangular glass element over 1 1/2 x 1/4 in. only visible upon close inspection. The lower edge with a minor chip, below the mirror along approximately 1 in. The wooden frame with minor surface scratches and minor abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. Please contact the department for additional photographs of the mirror. A spectacular piece which present with great scale and three-dimensional when viewed first hand.
