the pair to the preceding lot, the pear-shaped body rising from a short tapering foot to a tall neck with everted rim, painted with three recumbent mythical beasts in soft copper-red silhouettes mottled with emerald green, their eyes picked out in underglaze blue and the details highlighted in gilding, the rim with a gilt ruyi band

Condition

There is a lean to the vase. The neck has been broken into 6 pieces and restored, with cracks and overprinting visible around the shoulder. There is a 1cm deep scratch to the glaze above the rear haunch of one beast. Some shallow chips along the edge of the foot. Gilding is generally well preserved, with some rubbing particularly around the rim. Some glaze firing imperfections such as considerable pinpricks to the exterior of the vase.
