Description
- gold splashed bronze
the deep rounded body resting on three blade-like legs, rising to a wide flared neck with a pair of posts with domed finials, set with a loop handle issuing from an animal mask, the exterior finely cast around the bulbous section with a pair of taotie masks divided by two vertical flanges on a leiwen ground, all below a band of upright cicada lappets around the neck, the bronze of a dark chocolate tone liberally splashed with gold, the base cast with a five-character inscription reading Boshen zuo baoyi (Boshen made this precious wine vessel)
Condition
The jia is generally in good condition. There are some small dents on the rim near one post, and other minor nicks elsewhere. The handle and the three feet may have been later reinforced, as evident from small pins to the interior. There are minor surface wear and casting flaws.
