with deep rounded sides rising from a short foot to an everted rim, the exterior enamelled in pastel tones with a butterfly depicted fluttering near a branch of blossoming and fruiting balsam pears and leafy bamboo shoots, a bamboo shoot and a curling balsam pear stem rendered extending over the rim and onto the interior issuing further clusters of foliage and two balsam pears, a small butterfly portrayed flying nearby, the base with an underglaze-blue six-character seal mark, the cover centred with a flared circular finial and similarly painted with a scene depicting a butterfly next to fruiting and blossoming branches of balsam pears as well as leafy bamboo shoots, the vegetation extending onto the underside with a further butterfly fluttering nearby, the centre of the finial with an underglaze-blue six-character seal mark
Condition
The covered teabowl is in overall very good condition with the enamels generally well preserved. There are only some very minor firing imperfections such as a few glaze crackles to the joint of the knop and the cover.
