Condition

The canvas has a firm relining and the varnish is patchy and discoloured. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals two restoration campaigns, which consist of scattered retouchings throughout, with notable areas in the faces of the figures and other flesh tones. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame which appears to be later to the painting.
