Description
- Lombard School, 17th Century
- Christ washing the Apostles' feet
- oil on canvas
- 195 x 290.5 cm
Condition
The canvas has been relined and has a horizontal seam running through the centre of the picture. The varnish is even but discoloured. A small tear, measuring approx. 2 inches, sits along the bottom center edge of the frame, and retouching is visible along the left and bottom margins, likely from old frame abrasion. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered retouchings, though no majors damages are visible. For a work of this size, the canvas is in good condition and well-preserved. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame with small chips but in good condition.
