Description

  • Walnut, parcel-gilt
  • 104cm. high; 3ft. 5in.
each with a stylized double eagle shaped back, above foliate scroll base

Condition

This pair of sgabelli are in good condition. There are marks and scratches consistent with age and use and traces of old woodworm which appears to be no longer active. Some of these have been filled in. There are other minor repairs most notably to the seats. The gilding, refreshed in pars, is worn and with losses throughout. One with losses to wood due to past woodworm activity and one small break to the lower moulding of the seat; restorations to the feet. The feet of both rebacked. In sound condition, they are ready to place.
