Condition
This suite of armchairs is in overall good condition. There are marks and scratches as well as minor losses throughout that are consistent with age and use. The gilding is attractively worn in places, and there are juncture cracks to the surfaces. There are traces of old woodworm which appears to be no longer active. The right arm of one armchair has been broken and repaired, and the seat rails have been reinforced. This attractive set might benefit from a light clean according to taste.
The tapestry is very dirty and discoloured, and with areas of weakness. There are weaknesses to the light areas in the flowers within the design in the seats and backs, and the effected flowers especially with horizontal warps showing and the underneath support exposed. These weak areas need stabilising.
