Designed as a heart pierced with an arrow, pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds, set to the centre with a heart-shaped diamond, fitted case.
Provenance
Specially commissioned by Andrew, 11th Duke of Devonshire (1920-2004) from Armour-Winston, as a diamond wedding anniversary present for Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire (1920-2014) and presented to the Duchess on 19th of April 2001. Later that year the Duke and Duchess held a 'World War II' themed tea party for several hundred couples from Derbyshire who shared their wedding year. This unique brooch adorned the Duchess's dress coat that day, worn on the shoulder as was very much her style.
Condition
Heart-shaped diamond measuring approximately 6.1 x 8.1 x 4.9mm, calculated to weigh approximately 1.66 carats, estimated colour I-J, estimated clarity I-included. Estimated total diamond weight of remaining diamonds 15.00-20.00 carats, estimated colour G-I, estimated clarity VS-SI clarity on average. Secure clasp.
