Catalogue Note

"Transparent, fluid, expanding, the "wet" style of Lui's Zen paintings represents Lui at the most complex. Colour was often employed as an important element. Here energy radiates perpetually when all cosmic forces are in dynamic equilibrium. The dissolved image of the lotus flower, the moon breaking through the clouds and mist and mirrored on the pond, the agitated surface of water with its reflected and refracted lights, startled lotus leaves in wind or rain, all become one with the awakened self." – Wucius Wong, Lui Shou-kwan, Lui Mui Sin-Ping, Hong Kong, 1979, unpaginated
