Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original. The brown and grey squares are brighter, the dark green square tends more towards pine green, and the centre square tends more towards lime green in the original. Condition: This work is in vey good condition. Close inspection reveals a tiny speck of loss to the centre of the left edge, on the white paint. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some small spots of fluorescence to the white paint.

Catalogue Note

“My painting is meditative, … [it] is tranquil … I don’t look for quick effects … You see, that’s what I’m aiming at: to create meditative pictures of the 20th century.”
