each marbleized-ground vase affixed with gilt lion mask handles and decorated with a pseudo-hieroglyph band, sceptre marks in underglaze-blue; the stands with incised numerals 39.
Condition
Some occasional and minor wear to the gilding, especially on the handles; otherwise in good condition.

A potpourri vase and cover of the same shape, decorated with flowers, is illustrated in Erich Köllmann and Margarete Jarchow, Berliner Porzellan, Bildband, p. 578, cat. no. 537. A similar pair, from the Property from the Royal House of Hanover, was sold at Sotheby's Munich, October 5, 2005, lot 2431.
