Condition

The single panel is uncradled and flat. The paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. There is a fine network of craquelure throughout. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals that the lower half of the painting and the details of the ships are very well-preserved and untouched. There is retouching in the sky to reduce the appearance of the craquelure, and wash over the upper two thirds of the sky. In overall good condition.
