Description

  • Chamberlain's key for Charles III William, Margrave of Baden-Durlach (1679-1738)
  • gilt steel, on a modern brass and perspex stand
  • German, first half 18th century
monogrammed: WCC on the bow

Condition

Overall the condition of the key is good, with some wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is minor tarnishing to the gilding at the bow and the bit. There is a small lacuna to the cross at the top, and there are a few further very small lacunae. There are some minor nicks and scratches. The brass and perspex stand is in good condition with some wear.
