Description

  • Chest lock with peacocks
  • steel, on a modern perspex stand
  • Probably Spanish, late 16th/ early 17th century

Condition

Overall the condition of the lock is good, with some wear and minor dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is some darkening to the metal and very minor oxidisation in a few areas. The strap was glued to the perspex mount at the top but has detached and glue is still visible on the metal. The strap is attached to the lock at the centre. There are a few nicks, consistent with use. The perspex stand is in good condition with minor wear.
