of rectangular form, the well-figured matched front panels set within a mitered, mortised and tenoned frame of typical construction, the upper section of each door carved with coiled chilong, the square section frame members joining the side, top and back panels, the interior with three drawers, set above a scrolling and beaded apron carved with entwined grasses, resting on short lion-mask legs ending in paw feet, brass mounted rectangular hinges, ogival shaped lockplate and open work pulls

Condition

There are filled and patch repairs due to shrinkage in both side panels. The mounts have been replaced. The chest is paler than indicated in the catalogue image due to sun exposure, particularly the back panel.
