Description
- bronze and porcelain
each decorated with literati scenes and officials in a landscape, below auspicious items enclosed in cartouches reserved on a diapered ground around the shoulder, now fitted with later gilt-bronze mounts and wired for electricity
Condition
Both vases are mounted for electricity with gilt-metal mounts as visible on the photo. The two vases have not been inspected without their mounts so the condition of their rim and foot cannot be clearly reviewed. The two pieces are sold 'as viewed' as per our condition of business and without reserve. As a preliminary indication what is visible is that there is an old restoration to the mouth rim of one vase with an associated crack extending down the neck. There are areas of old restorations on the shoulder of the other vase, the largest 3 x 2.5 cm and losses to the enamel, one more noticeable to the top of a cliff in the distance. Both have expected firing imperfections or fritting typical of the type, further occasional rubbing or losses of enamels. They have been drilled through their base for wiring.
