  • porcelain
decorated around the swelling body with a variety of insects and plants, one side with a praying mantis among red osmanthus flowers, the other with hovering butterflies, all below floral borders encircling the shoulder and rim, the base inscribed in iron red with a six-character reign mark

Condition

The vase is generally in good condition. There is some surface wear and occasional rubbing to the overglazed enamels, mostly noticeable on the wings of the butterflies. There are some further losses of enamels, essentially around the foot, and expected firing imperfections or impurities in the glaze.
