delicately worked in the round as a small quail grasping a millet stem in its beak, the plumage finely detailed with incisions, the translucent white stone picked out with a small russet inclusion

The carving is in overall good condition. There is a slightly polished area to the tip of the tail indicating that it might have been slightly polished, but very insignificant and possibly original to the piece. There is some occasional nibbling or typical tiny nicks along the edges of the carving.
