Description

each with deep rounded sides, the exterior decorated with scrolling stems bearing peony blooms and buds, all against a rich ruby-red ground, the base with an iron-red Caihuatang ('Hall of Brilliant Colours') zhi hall mark within a double-circle

Condition

The mouthrim of the left bowl has an approx. 0.7 cm restored and retouched flake. To the right bowl, there are two tiny restored flakes to the mouthrim with overpaint. Although with some crackles and bubbles, the enamels of the pair have been generally well preserved.
