the robust baluster body rising from a flat base to a broad shoulder and a short constricted neck, the exterior of the body divided into four cartouches, two painted with scenes of butterflies and birds fluttering around blossoming branches and jagged rockwork, the other two with figures engaged in various activities in a riverscape scene detailed with pavilions and lush vegetation, a stylised pendent ruyi band encircling the shoulder below borders of upright ruyi blooms and stylised chevron motifs collaring the neck
Condition
There is some wear and fritting to the mouthrim, typical of porcelain of the period. There are some firing imperfections to the glaze around the body, including iron spots and glaze gaps, one larger iron spot on a tree in one of the figural cartouches.There are some expect light scratches and wear. The jar is otherwise is in good condition.
