Catalogue Note
This fine hydrological map of the was attached to an official report about water conservancy on the Grand Canal (Yunhe), “the artificial waterway that enabled such vital commodities a rice and salt to flow between Beijing in the north and Yangzi Rover valley in the south… An inscription affixed to the map’s front cover claims that Huang Yo (1744–1802) painted the work. Although this piece of external documentation is spurious, the attribution of the document to Huang is not implausible” (All Under Heaven).
