Provenance
Pauline Countess von Montgelas (1874-1961), crest on album. Montgelas came to China in 1900 shortly after the Boxer Rebellion with her husband who was in the German diplomatic service, and resided in Beijing until 1903. The journal of her travels was published in 1905 (see above).
