Catalogue Note
A FINE GROUP OF PORTRAITS, five by Yamamoto, comprising: a finely dressed Manchurian lady on a donkey with two attendants; two Mongolians with a Bactrian camel; street hairdressers; men with monowheel carts; a mule cart and driver with women passengers; and a group image (wedding?) by an unidentified photographer. The first five are reproduced as collotypes in Yamamoto's photobook Peking (see lot 179).
