Catalogue Note
Pamela Ruby Bianco (1906–1994) was a British-born American artist and print-maker; her mother, Margery Williams Bianco is best known for having written the classic Velveteen Rabbit, illustrated by William Nicholson (1922). Pamela was a child prodigy, encouraged to draw and paint early on and was exposed to authors and artists in her parents’ circle. Her patrons included John Galsworthy, Walter de la Mare, and Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney among others.
