Condition
Unexamined out of the frame. The board appears sound. There is a small hairline crack to the board in the lower right corner. There are some areas of craquelure, most noticeable in the black ground, and the darker areas of red pigment of the two left apples. Subject to the above, the work is in very good overall condition.
Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an area of fluorescence to the far left section of the table, thought to be in keeping with the artist's materials. There is an uneven varnish layer which makes the reading slightly difficult.
The work is held in a gilt moulded frame with a linen slip under glass.
