Catalogue Note

The editio princeps of the Roman Catholic version of the Old and New Testaments in English, collectively known as the "Douay-Rheims version," or as the"Douay Bible." The translation of the New Testament was essentially the work of Gregory Martin, who joined the College at Douay in 1570. The printed annotations are largely by Richard Bristow, the Moderator, while the less controversial annotations and tables in the Old Testament are attributed to Thomas Worthington, President of the College from 1599. A fine, complete set.
