Title-page printed in red and black, additional historiated engraved title-page by Robert Gaywood after Francis Barlow, engraved frontispiece portrait of Ussher by Peter Stent, section title to "The Later Part of the Annals" (3F4r) printed in red and black, woodcut initials, woodcut and type-ornament head- and tailpieces, with terminal ad leaf; frontispiece lightly creased, occasional browning and spotting. Nineteenth-century russet morocco, front cover with the central gilt crest, motto, and cipher of the, rear cover with his central gilt arms, marbled endpapers, gilt edges; a bit faded and rubbed, with a couple of middling scrapes to rear cover.

First edition in English, following the Latin editions of 1650 and 1654 (second part). Ussher's work established a Biblical chronology that remained standard for many years. He dated the creation to precisely 6:00 pm, October 22, 4004 BC.
