Catalogue Note

Five scarce early Reformation tractates, beautifully preserved. The last item is the Latin version of Edward VI's injunction of July 31, 1547, requiring that copies of the Great Bible and of Erasmus's Paraphrases be placed in every parish church and that church services be held in English. This injunction marked the beginning of the Protestant Reformation in England.
