The illustration is accurate.
Elegant model in good condition.
Structure solid. Attractive carving, quite deep, and with fine pierced element on the legs.
The gilding refreshed with a nice colour and condition. Seat rails and legs in good condition.
The seat frame has been replaced as the red velvet (also in good condition).

Catalogue Note
Notre tabouret partage plusieurs points communs avec un tabouret ‘haut’ d’apparat, conservé au Bayerisches Nationalmuseum à Munich. Il présente un même châssis à ceinture rectiligne à doucine inversée très richement sculpté, ainsi que quatre pieds ‘en console’ et à enroulements, de section et à sabots carrés, pareillement disposés en diagonale, soulignées de larges feuilles d’acanthes, et joints dans leur partie basse au moyen d’une entretoise. Ce tabouret haut, probablement exécuté à Paris au début du XVIIIe siècle, a été commandé pour le compte de Maximilien II Emmanuel de Bavière (1662-1726), prince électeur de Bavière et grand amateur des arts décoratifs français. Il montre l’influence française sur la production allemande de l’époque mais aussi les importations directes de meubles français auprès des plus importants collectionneurs de l’époque.
