Dynamic scenes of elephants in various contexts (fighting, running amok, involved in hunting etc.) were popular and a particular specialism of the Bundi and Kota schools in Rajasthan. Another mid-eighteenth century Bundi version of the exact scene depicted here is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
