Description

  • brass
the shallow rounded body with faceted sides leading to a hammered lower ridge, engraved with a central band containing calligraphic cartouches between entwined foliate designs, the underside also with a full design comprising lotus blossoms, entwined scrolls and foliate details, engraved roundel with heraldic blazon at centre of interior

Condition

The basin with some dents and minor breaks to body, the interior oxidised and patinated, quite rubbed, particularly noticeable to engraved decoration, remnants of black compound that originally would have been between the engraved design, some old restorations with other pieces of metal near bottom of edge, as viewed.
