Condition

This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. Colour is more orange compared to catalogue illustration. By the collage along left and right margins there are minor traces of threadlike stable craquelures and few minor paint losses inherent to the artist's technique. There are few minor traces of wearing by the edges of the wooden batons. The nails used to fix the wooden batons are visible, also from the catalogue illustration. Under UV light are visible few minor retouching along the right margin toward the centre and the lower part, along the left lower margin and by two minor losses by the first and the third wooden batons.

Catalogue Note

To paraphrase Giuliano Briganti, one might say "Nineteen-sixty, i.e. the monochrome." The monochrome,  that is- the plain and simple act of painting a surface in a single color- is a radical simplification of the world to the painting space. It is a single and utter  condensation into color or the absence of it.
