  • An Egyptian Alabaster Canopic Jar Lid

  • Height of lid with tenon 5 7/8 in. 14.9 cm.
wearing a short beard and wide striated wig, his broad face with full lips and large wide-set eyes with finely-tapered upper lids; together with an Egyptian alabaster section of a canopic jar (?), on which the lid has long rested in modern times.

Condition

Generally good, surface a bit worn, end of nose chipped, tiny nicks and abrasions, minor imperfections in the stone. The section of a canopic jar (?) with which it is associated has a few chips, old scratches and imperfections. The lid has been recently and professionally cleaned of modern grime perhaps caused by smoke, the section of the jar has been left as is.
