Description

  • An Attic Red-figured Pelike, attributed to the Dutuit Painter
  • Height 28.5 cm. 11 1/4 in.
painted on one side with a woman holding flowers and wearing a sakkos, and on the other with a man holding a leg of meat.

Condition

Repaired at the neck with diagonal break across face and proper left shoulder of standing woman terminating in area of restoration 1 inch by 0.5 inch. Traces of original brown wash on the woman's garment indicating drapery folds. Several black glazed areas touched up with black paint, probably to conceal further repairs and areas of misfiring. Underside encrusted. At least one handle repaired.
