- A Fragmentary Roman Marble Figure of a Dancing Satyr

- Total height 55.5 cm. 21 7/8 in.; height without plinth 49 cm. 19 1/4 in.
standing on his toes with his left leg forward on a profiled circular base, a goat skin draped over the tree-trunk support; the upper part of the figure and the proper left lower leg formerly restored in marble.

Mr and Mrs Jacques Vettier, Brussels and Paris, acquired in Brussels in the late 1970s/early 1980s
Condition
Lower half of proper left leg, including foot formerly resting on tip toes, once restored in marble and now missing. Half of proper right pinky toe abraded. Top of figure once restored. Proper lower left leg once restored.
Weathering overall. Chips around top and bottom edges of base. Large concave and picked patch on top of base where restored proper left toes would have been applied. Two chips, one on each outside thigh.
