Catalogue Note
The glamorous and sultry dancer and film actress Rita Hayworth, known for her long wavy red hair, rose to the heights of stardom dancing with Gene Kelly in the 1944 musical Cover Girl. Hayworth, who was born Margarita Carmen Casino in Brooklyn in 1918, was a favorite “pin-up girl” of World War II GIs and the subject of many a fighting man’s fantasies. Among her five husbands were Orson Welles and Prince Aly Khan.
