Condition

Overall in very good condition. On the interior edge of the bottom shade rim there is a small and shallow edge fleck (aproximately 1/4 x 1/2 inch). The lower shade rim with a few very small to minute edge flecks (all minor). The shade interior with a few small isolated traces of a transparent white surface discoloration (not visible from the shade exterior). The exterior surfaces of the shade with a few small paint marks, some minor areas of gentle surface rubbing, and light surface soiling to the recessed contours. The patinated metal base with light surface wear and areas of patina fatigue with some associated small scattered patina losses, consistent with age and gentle use, and with surface soiling to the recessed contours of the base design. The shade arms with concentrated areas of rubbing to the patina where the shade is placed; these are not visible when the shade is righted. The two sockets and pull chains appear to be original and undisturbed. With two replaced small screws to the central socket cluster. A beautiful example of Pairpont's rare Orange lamp model, depicting luminous naturalistic effects in the depiction of the oranges and foliage. The shade is highly dimensional and tactile, articulated around the full circumference with oranges on the vine as well as two polychromed butterflies. The colors are more nuanced and slightly less saturated than seen in the catalogue illustration.
