  • Pair of busts of a Spring and Autumn
  • signed: J. CLESINGER and inscribed: MARNYHAC Fondeur and stamped with the pastilla: .BRONZE ARTISTIQUE DE PARIS. 
  • gilt bronze, on ebonised wood bases with mottled green marble plaques

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronzes is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surfaces consistent with age. There is some minor tarnishing to the gilt patina in areas. It appears that the patina of the hair and the drapery is deliberately dark. There are a few very minor spots of greening, including to the proper left temple and the underside of the drapery of the bust facing left. There is some very minor rubbing to the tips of the noses. There is some minor dark spotting and staining in some areas, in particular to the socles. There are some areas of very minor hairline fissures, notably to the proper right shoulder of the bust facing left. There is minor wear to the bases, including a few nicks.
