Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some dryness to the patina at the swan's proper left wing.

Catalogue Note

Hussmann, mostly known for his high quality equestrian bronzes, also tried his hand at mythological subjects: his model of Europa and the Bull proved his most famous, a version of which sold in these rooms on 17 May 2011, lot 96.
