Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is a fissure, together with two original plugs, to the proper right shoulder blade. There are a few smaller fissures, including to the proper right legs of the horse. There appear to be some lacquers to the surface, which have flaked in a few areas, including to the inside of the horse's proper left front leg and at the buttocks. There is an original hole to the horse's underbelly. The horseman is cast separately and there are three pins holding him to the horse at his skirt. There appears never to have been a baton in the horseman's proper right hand. There is wear to the bases, including some small chips to the corners and edges. Cork supports to the underside.
