Condition
The canvas has a modern glue relining which is firm and staple. The painting appears to have been restored in the recent past and is ready to hang in its present state. The paint surface has been well preserved under a fresh and clear varnish and has retained its impasto, particularly evident along the edges of the tromp l'oeil print.
Inspection under ultra violet light reveals minor retouched losses scattered throughout, though these have been sensitively applied and are not visible to the naked eye. There are further retouches concentrated in the quill, in the upper corners and to the upper left corner of the print.
Offered in a decoratively carved black wood frame.
