Condition

Overall in very good condition. With some small and minute air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making and not at all visually detracting. The Diatreta column with a few irregular prunts inherent to the design. The top and bottom rows of the Diatreta column with a few tight and minor hairlines. These hairlines all appear stable and likely occurred during the annealing process (they are quite commonly seen in other known examples of the Diatreta technique). The perimeter of the foot with a very subtle indentation. The iridescence covers this area, so this simply appears to be a minor irregularity in the making. The underside of the foot with very faint surface scratches. The full exterior and interior of the tazza are beautifully iridized, and when viewed with reflected light the vase displays a brilliant range of luminous jewel tones. When viewed firsthand the colors are slightly less saturated than seen in the catalogue illustration. An outstanding example of this rare technique displaying impressive scale and strong color and iridescence. It is unusual to see such a two-tone treatment to Diatreta works, here seen with the gold Diatreta column against the striking turquoise body.
